Scholarship

Each year the Minnesota Crop Production Retailers awards a student who is entering their second, third or fourth year of a four-year Minnesota institution of higher learning or, the second year of a two-year Minnesota institution of higher learning the Craig Sallstrom Memorial Scholarship.

Students must submit the requirements as listed in the Sallstrom Scholarship Information (below) and have the package postmarked by November 1, 2010.

Dear Minnesota Crop Production Retailers,

Every Thanksgiving my mom makes our family each say something of which we are thankful. Though it seems a little cliche, I really enjoy reflecting on the year. This year there was much to be thankful for, though this crazy harvest season, I was thankful that my dad got all of his crops out of the field before Thanksgiving. I am thankful for a college I can attend to gain more knowledge about the agriculture industry. Another thing I am thankful for is that in spite of the economic unrest of our country, people still value education and are willing to help college students financially. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Agriculture Industries and Marketing with a Crops and Soils emphasis. The funds from your scholarship will go toward my tuition bill for the spring 2010 semester. With the assistance from organizations such as the Minnesota Crop Production Retailers, I am able to focus on my studies and education rather than working an extra job to pay for my education. I am thankful for the people of CentraSota Co-Op of Cokato, Minnesota for informing my dad of this scholarship opportunity and for the committee who chose me to receive the Craig Sallstom Scholarship. Thank you again for valuing education and making it possible for me and other students to pursue our degrees and goals.
